Katie Smith's Bio

Katie works with oil, watercolor, acrylic, pen & ink, pastels and a variety of other media; her work first began to garner recognition during her college years; since then she has won awards in juried art competitions, and has gained commercial acceptance as well. Her art hangs on display in homes throughout the United States and England.

Katie prefers to leave her mind free to roam, with no preconceived notion of where her art might take her, allowing her fingers, paintbrushes and assorted art tools to guide her creations.

Remarkably, Katie suffered a brain-stem stroke at the age of 15, and not only graduated with honors (Studio Art and Psychology) from Kennesaw State University but has continued to pursue art, which, in the aftermath of her stroke, began as nothing more than a therapeutic exercise.

Katie’s art is visual proof that miracles do in fact take place; Katie is living proof that each of us can be a vehicle for the miraculous.
